Jana was born in Novy Jicin, in Northern Moravia.  She studied library science at Charles University in Prague and in 1981 fled Czechoslovakia.   Until 1988 she lived in New York city and worked for a publishing house.  After seven years she moved with her husband and daughter to Munich, Germany, where her husbands work relocated.  In the early 1990s they returned to Prague, it becoming a democratic country in the meantime. First she worked as a librarian at the Municipal library of Prague but her interest in history, love of Prague and good knowledge of  the English language brought her to the decision to become a tourist guide.  She  has been showing Prague as well as other interesting places in the Czech Republic to English speaking tourists from around the world for several years now.

Among her hobbies are history, theater, hiking, traveling and cooking.

 

Jana speaks English, German and some Russian, along with Czech.
